Thankfully, I had just received a yard and a half of some buttery soft jersey knit fabric from my friends at Simple Simon and Co. Elizabeth and liZ have released a mini, companion collection of knit and quilting cotton fabrics called By Popular Demand for Riley Blake Designs. This knit has the perfect weight and stretch for the Janie Peplum I wanted to sew!
Honestly, I wish I had had enough of this fabric to make myself a similar top. This Janie Peplum turned out even cuter than I had thought! Ella loves it, and it will be the perfect top to pair with jeans this winter on the weekends. My daughter definitely dresses way better than I do myself!
Do you love this look? Then be sure to visit Simple Simon and Co. and enter their giveaway for a chance to win 2 yards of In Popular Demand knit fabric! You could make your child or yourself a Janie Dress or Peplum Top, too!
Originally, I pattern tested this design a few weeks ago, and I was able to sew this dress together in about an hour without even using the instructions provided! It's that simple!
I used a very stretchy 4-way lycra knit to sew this dress. It is soft and comfy, but I noticed the skirt is a bit heavy. I'll be sure to either keep it folded instead of on a hanger when Ella isn't wearing it to prevent the fabric from stretching out more.
I love that his dress design with the cowl neck collar and in a solid navy fabric means Ella can wear it to school! Her school has strict guidelines regarding attire, and this definitely meets the requirements!
Oh, and this dress has the best twirl-ability EVER!
Now to sew together some different versions of the Janie Dress and Peplum Top. I'm thinking I may leave off the skirt and lengthen the bodice to make a regular t-shirt but with the ballet style neckline. Go grab your copy of the pattern from Mouse House Creations today (I think it's still on sale ;))!
Have FUN sewing!
